30 Minute Head Studies in Clay

After studying the skull in the previous life drawing session, tonight students did a small 30 minute sketch using clay to better understand form, structure and mass. This was the first time students sculpted, great job guys!

ABC Competition – Recreate a Renaissance Image

Congratulations to one of our students Jane Treadwell for winning the ABC – Recreate a Renaissance Competition with her portrait of Lindy Burns as Raphael’s St. Sebastian. Winner was announced live on the radio Tuesday Night whilst Jane was in art class!!

Jane will receive two air tickets from Melbourne to Canberra; two night’s twin share accommodation; a special tour of the exhibition with Director of the National Gallery of Australia Ron Radford AM and ABC Radio presenters Tony Delroy and Emma Ayres on Friday 30 March; Cocktails at the Italian Embassy with the Italian Ambassador S.E. Gianludovico de Martino di Montegiordano and a complimentary exhibition catalogue of Renaissance. Well Done!

First Term at Rings Road Art Studio

Great start to the year for all our beginners and advanced students. Our drawing students produced structural drawings looking at perspective and composition and our painters looked at tone and pictorial balance. To the left, an example of an acrylic painting produced this week by Catherine McKeon.

Congratulations to our Folio Prep Students

Congratulations to two of our Folio Prep students Cameron Jones, who was accepted into RMIT Bachelor of Animation as his first preference and Zach Beltsos Russo for also being accepted again as first preference into RMIT for Bachelor of Architecture.

Well done and we wish you all the best in your studies next year.

Inaugural Student Exhibition: 12 – 18 December 2011  

On Sunday 11th December, Rings Road Art Studio hosted their first student exhibition, exhibiting 125 beautiful works by students from beginners to advanced levels. Congratulations to all the students for coming together and making this show happen. Teachers at Rings Road also displayed some of their drawings, watercolours, oil paintings and animated storyboards.
Rings Road Art Studio would like to thank all those who came to support our students on this successful event and a special thanks to the students who offered their time to help set up the show.
