Open Studio

Open Studio is a session where students can work on their own individual creative ideas and artworks. In each session the tutor will be present to assist and mentor students in any media they choose. No life models are assigned for this class but the tutor, if required may set a still life.

Life Drawing for Beginners

Life drawing workshop for beginners and those with some drawing experience. In this session students will develop an understanding of the proportions and planes of the figure with reference to the skeleton and the muscular structure.

This workshop will also teach students to draw hands and feet and the basic structure of the head. Students will produce artwork that explores the figure in space. This class is recommended for students who would like to continue their study of the figure or to improve their skills.

2 – Day Drawing Intensive

This two day intensive drawing class will to assist students in developing strong technical skills and aims to provide students with clear instruction in drawing from observation.

This course emphasises strongly on the relationship between figures and objects in space and addressing the challenges of perspective and spatial principles in the studio.

This course is suitable for those who want to enhance and refine their art making skills and for those wanting to develop a folio of work.

Renaissance Tour – NGA Canberra

The National Gallery of Australia is hosting an exhibition of works by some of the great masters of the Renaissance Period. A wonderful opportunity to view works by Botticelli, Raphael, Bellini and Titian guided by teachers at Rings Road Art Studio.

This tour  will include a lecture, “Introduction to Renaissance”, given by an NGA staff member, to be followed by an  after hours viewing of the  exhibition. This tour will also include visits to the National Portrait Gallery and the Australian War Memorial Museum.
